Who Are We?
The Freedom Center for Independent Living (FCIL) provides services that are consumer-controlled, community-based, cross-disability, nonresidential and is a private nonprofit agency. FCIL offers the following I.L. core services:
– Information and referral;
– I.L. skills training;
– Peer counseling;
– Individual and systems advocacy; and
– Transition Services from nursing homes and other institutions to the community, provides assistance to those at risk of entering institutions, and facilitates transition of youth to postsecondary life.
Other services necessary to improve the ability of individuals with significant disabilities to function independently in the family or community and/or to continue in employment are also available; such as, Emergency Preparedness information and training.
The FCIL understands the often daunting challenges individuals with disabilities and their families face during and following a disaster or other emergency. Individuals with disabilities and their families need actions and planning before disasters.
Freedom Center empowers persons with disabilities by providing the programs, services and individual support needed for them to discover and develop their individual talents and abilities. This empowerment enables them to better control their quality-of-life; and interactions with the environment, their families and their communities.
Freedom Center for Independent Living, Inc. (FCIL) is a non-profit, 501(c) (3) tax-exempt Center for Independent Living that provides quality services to people with disabilities by assisting them in achieving and maintaining independent lives. FCIL Board of Directors and Staff represent the diversity of our designated service area.
How Can We Help?
• We can provide assistance on a
broad range of topics thereby
empowering people to find and
apply for programs, services,
and benefits available to help them.
• We can provide support, support groups and peer counseling for persons with disabilities as they work toward and/or maintain an independent life style within their community.
Freedom Center Values
Empower persons with disabilities by enabling them to gain effective control and direction over their own lives.
Our Vision starts with the belief that a disability is a natural part of life. Some people are born with their disability, while others acquire one through an injury or illness.
Is to put our combined knowledge and experience to work in order to ensure the consumer achieves the goals that they set for themselves
